Fiction
Original novels and short fiction with a strong sense of place, written to be read more than once.

Brae Riach Press
An independent UK press developing original fiction, thoughtful non-fiction, distinctive editions of enduring works, and practical digital products. We choose the form that best serves the idea — page, screen or both.
Our position
Most presses are defined by a category. We are defined by a standard. If an idea deserves the weight of a cloth-bound edition, it becomes a book. If it is better served by something a person can use on a Tuesday morning, it becomes a digital product.
Working across genres and formats is not a lack of focus. It is the only honest way to keep the work answerable to the reader rather than to a shelf label — and it means each project is judged on clarity, craft and whether it is genuinely useful.
One standard, several forms.
What we publish

Original novels and short fiction with a strong sense of place, written to be read more than once.

Clear, practical writing that respects the reader's time and leaves them able to do something new.

Enduring works given considered new form — typography, illustration and binding treated as part of the reading.

Toolkits, courses and templates built for real working life, with the same craft bar as our books.

Why Brae Riach Press
01
Nothing padded, nothing decorative for its own sake. If a sentence is not carrying weight, it goes.
02
Typography, illustration, structure and pacing are treated as part of the argument, not the wrapping.
03
A book or a kit should leave the reader with something they can keep, use or return to.
04
We answer to readers, not to a category plan. That is what allows us to publish slowly and properly.
The method
Some ideas want paper: weight, margin, permanence, the pace that only a printed page enforces. Others want a screen: search, reuse, a template you can fill in tonight and send in the morning.
So we decide the form last. A reflection book becomes a cloth-bound edition. A working system becomes a downloadable kit. A classic becomes an edition designed to be lived with. The standard never moves; only the format does.

About Brae Riach Press
Brae Riach Press is an independent publisher based in the United Kingdom, named for the high, weathered ground that shapes how we think about work worth doing: slowly, in the open, without shortcuts.
We publish a small number of projects each year and give each one the time it needs. Every title and every product is written, designed and edited in British English, and released only when it is genuinely ready.
